I hope you had a great holiday celebration. It’s okay to feel either deflated or happy in the aftermath. (I think most mothers are happy as their workload decreases.) Here’s an update on recent developments. The audiobook of “The Orphan Girl” just got approved. As I mentioned before, I finally found a narrator who can do accents and give my characters recognizable voices. It’s been a struggle, but I’m going to have him catch the series up and, hopefully, he can be my narrator for the long term.

I get codes for free audiobooks from Audible (owned by Amazon). If you would like to listen to The Orphan Girl, or if you know someone who listens to audiobooks, send me a request, and I’ll send you a code with instructions on how to use it. It’s a nice gesture from Audible. They hope, with the codes, to get listeners to post a review, which, as you know, helps promote the book in any form. Please pass along this request with your free code, or, if it’s for you, leave a review.
To redeem the code:
If in the U.S., go to the following link: https://www.audible.com/acx-promo
If in the UK, go to this link: https://www.audible.co.uk/acx-promo
Copy and paste your code in the bar provided and follow the instructions. Note that you must be using one of the following browsers to get this to work.
Google chrome
Mozilla Firefox
Apple Safari
Microsoft Edge
The process can get quirky, so if you have any issues, email me, and I’ll try to get them sorted out for you. Codes to free audiobooks help no one if you can’t redeem them.
On another issue, the professional edit of “Payback” is paying off. I messed up the book’s republishing, and my sales ranking in its categories dropped precipitously. That’s scary for an author. But I’m happy to report that the book has now climbed back into the top 50 rankings in all of its three categories and ranks around 6,300 out of about 2 million eBooks. New readers are discovering the book, which is great. There will be more editing to come on my other thrillers, but I’ll try to avoid the pitfalls I fell into on this first edit.
My new novel is moving along, albeit slowly. Current events have moved so fast as to almost make the premise obsolete…almost, but not quite, so I will continue. Sometimes reality is more action-filled than the thrillers we authors write; 2026 will be an “interesting” year.
Stay well, keep safe, and keep loving those close to you. I’ll be in touch. Dan’s looking over my shoulder, so I’d better get back to work.
